Go off the beaten path (and we mean WAY off) and experience a 4X4 adventure along some of the most rugged terrains in the world. For the best four-wheel drive (4WD) expeditions, you’ll need to venture into the remote regions of Malaysia. Logging tracks have created ideal conditions for 4X4s, such as those found in Gua Musang in Kelantan. Other popular off-road routes include the Kenyir Lake area in Terengganu as well as Chini Lake and Sungai Lembing in Pahang. In Sabah and Sarawak, the off-road logging track takes drivers through stunning rainforests and even across shallow rivers. Some off-roaders take the opportunity to visit native tribes who reside in longhouses in the jungles of Sarawak. Be aware and respectful of traditional customs and in return, you will be showered with heartwarming hospitality.

The dry months between March and October are ideal for four-wheel driving but the extreme off-roader may want to consider the monsoon season between November and February: The wet and muddy conditions may be the extra challenge you seek!
